A new phase
Well this week I said “Yes” to a new job offer… Going to work for Symantec in Reading who have 16,000 employees which is a little more than I’m used to! My job title will be “Sales Development Specialist” in the “Information Lifecycle Management” team (I’ll be an ILM SDS
). Basically my role is to help people understand what the products I work with can do, how they fit in with the needs of customers, and what we can offer them to make it easier to sell. It’s really a business development role and I’m excited about all the different parts of my skill set that I’ve built up over the years can be brought together to make it work. My mind though is a little buzzing though at times because I have a load of ideas but I don’t have the “data” to know which are do-able in the environment I’m going to be working in so I’m like a chess master trying to think several stages ahead! Looking forward to starting on the 18th…
Last night at house group I commented that I don’t think it’s coincidence that right around the month we are finishing paying off our considerable debt is the one I suddenly get a very well paying job. I think if I had received the kind of salary I’m going to be on a few years ago we’d be very tempted to “live to our means”. However, having gone through the process of know what we really need to live it’s been so revealing and will set us up for being able to save and spread our expendable income around to the right places and not just blow it on pointless purchases.
I’m going to be relying on you all though to keep us on track though so if you spot me waving my wallet around feel free to remind me of this post!
